Plassey Park Road Improvement Scheme

Description

The scheme comprises the following: Plassey Park Road / Plassey Road and Plassey Park Road / University Road junctions are to be upgraded to signalised junctions. Converting existing kneeling/indented bus stop on Plassey Park Road into an in-line island bus stop. Ensuring the right turn lane extends sufficiently to allow a bus to enter the lane directly on departing from the bus stop. Additional bus lanes to be introduced on both sides of the Plassey Park Road. Extending the segregated cycle lanes Eastwards on Plassey Park Rd and tying into the adjacent IDA road improvement scheme (Reg Ref 18252). Off-line waiting area for right-turning cyclists to cross at toucan crossing to be installed at both junctions. Upgrading the University Road at the junction with segregated cycle lanes. Constructing a bus lane on the Plassey Road and relocation of the existing bus stop. Widening of the existing road/footpath into existing roadside grassed areas/vegetation. Formalisation of the Plassey Road (L1118) / Dun An Oir junction with new vehicular access into the adjacent technology park. Upgrade of the northern entrance to the technology park from the Plassey Park Road. Upgrade of the Plassey Park Road / Lonsdale Road Junction. Construction of new cycle lanes on Plassey Road. New cycle lane is to be constructed to tie in with existing shared space at Kilmurry Roundabout.
