Summary of the work Developer to take a maintenance and development role initially covering one critical service. This would also include the other services that fall under Service Optimisation team's responsibility. These are delivered in an Agile manner to the cloud hosted platform. What Specialists Work On Work Packages include: 1. Acting as the lead developer for a specific service, ensuring long-term supportability of the code base. 2. Working on a particular business critical feature set which has business approval to deliver. This will integrate with HM Passport Office and third party systems. 3. Ensure the service applications meet best practice coding and structural designs. Skills & Experience • Have in-depth experience of PHP programming • Have in-depth knowledge of MySQL or Postgres • In-depth Knowledge of Symfony • In depth experience of working in an agile environment, including continuous delivery Nice to Haves • Java Programming • Microservice architecture • Adhering to GDS best practices • Experience of HM Passport Office or Home Office systems Work Location Petty France, London Working Arrangments The individual will work from the primary office in Petty France, London five days a week. There may be an occasional need to attend our other office in Central London (Victoria). No travel expenses will be paid for this purpose. Expenses for any exceptional travel authorised outside of Central London will fall under the Standard Government Terms and Conditions for Expenses as covered in the DOS Contract. Security Clearance SC Clearance is required. HM Passport Office will support the clearance process Additional T&Cs We expect this engagement to be outside IR35, however status is assessed on a case-by-case basis. As states in the requirements, HM Passport Office will support the clearance process 3. 1. Regarding the SC clearance status, if the candidate does not hold active SC clearance and is willing to go through the process, can this be considered, if yes will you sponsor the security clearance? If an appropriate candidate does not hold SC clearance, Her Majesty’s Passport Office will support and sponsor the clearance process. 4. 2. What is the lead time for feedback once the application is submitted? The vacancy closes on 18th October; we will aim to have the shortlist concluded and the results sent out to candidates by week ending 27th October and aim to have interviews the following week. All dates are indicative and HM Passport Office reserves the right to amend as required. 5. 3.Any chances of change in start date as the latest date mentioned is Monday 30 October 2017? Is the rate inclusive or exclusive of VAT? The rate is exclusive of VAT 12. 3.Would you consider work permit holders (e.g. Tier 2 General Visa) and EU passport holders for this role ? HM Passport Office will not provide Visa sponsorship. The security clearance will require the individual to have been living continuously in the UK for five years 13. If the candidate is strong in PHP but has no experience in Java or Microservices - will you consider such candidates A candidate will still be considered for this role if they have no experience in Java or Microservices as this is a ‘Nice-to-have skills and experience’ and not mandatory.
