Description
Flood mitigation. As part of Scottish water SW’s on-going capital programme to reduce the risk of internal flooding caused by hydraulic incapacity of the public sewerage system it is estimated that 60 properties per annum will require protection in the form of temporary/flood mitigation measures. SW are looking for a specialist contractor who has a proven track record of delivering contracts of a similar type ad can demonstrate their expertise as part of the following criteria: — has the appropriate skills to interface directly with SW’s customers in highly reputational circumstances, — occasional work, — can carry out property survey to confirm the flood mechanisms and appropriate mitigation measures for each property, — can manage each project with regards to third party legislation such as building control/ planning authorities/road department, etc., — is able to programme and deliver the works Scotland wide within agreed timescales and provide corporate data to SW throughout the contact period. The type of mitigation measures may include but is not limited to the following: — supply and installation of standard and bespoke flood gates, flood doors, flood barriers, air vent covers tested to BSi PAS 1188-1:2009 or equivalent, — manhole construction including incorporate of standard and pumped non return valves to SW’s agreed specification, — raising property thresholds, amending property apertures, ground re-profiling, wall construction, modification and alterations/diversion of drainage systems including ground reinstatement works, — sealing/rendering of brickwork, — engaging with SW suppliers for road reinstatements In accordance to the framework. The above types of solutions are neither prescriptive nor exhaustive: therefore SW welcomes opportunities to develop innovation ideas with successful contractor. Within this framework agreement the successful contractor will also have to maintain and inspect all temporary/flood mitigation measures within SW, maintenance programme and remove any such devices where a permanent solution has been constructed.
