Description

This voluntary ex-ante transparency notice concerns a contract with Leirvik AS. The delivery concerns an aluminium superstructure for a pedestrian and cycle bridge, Hangarbrua in Trondheim. The work is part of an R&D effort to develop a cork-competitive production process for the construction of aluminium bridges in terms of both cost and environmental footprint. Lot 1: Leirvik AS will produce an aluminium bridge superstructure for the Hangarbrua pedestrian and cycle bridge in Trondheim. This R&D work will be a further development of the work performed by Leirvik, Hydro and SINTEF in the AluBridge and AluGreen R&D projects and in SFI PhysMet. There is limited experience with the use of aluminium in bridge structures in Norway. No aluminium bridges have been built on the national and county road network in Norway since 1995. N400 does not describe specific rules for the use of aluminium in bridges. Since 1995, there have been major developments in aluminium technology, both in terms of welding technology and materials technology. Our work will contribute to the establishment of a regulatory framework that can be used in the engineering design and production of aluminium bridges in Norway. Hangarbrua will largely consist of an extruded aluminium profile. The use of aluminium as a bridge building material as an alternative to steel, concrete and wood depends on finding optimal solutions for these profiles in terms of production flow, economy and properties. The AluGreen R&D project will contribute with studies on optimising the geometry of extruded profiles. The purpose of this R&D work is to develop aluminium as an alternative to other materials used in bridge structures. We need access to an aluminium bridge to further develop our methodology and expertise in order to reach a level of maturity that provides the best possible production flow. Increased technological maturity through this project (Hangarbrua) will make it easier for other stakeholders to use these methods in engineering design and construction, thereby helping to reduce costs and environmental footprint. The contracting authority has determined that the procurement is covered by PPR § 2-5.
