Award of Houston Interchange Bridge Refurbishment Works. Lot 1: Houston Interchange Bridge carries the A899 dual carriageway and associated slip roads over Houstoun Road at Houstoun Interchange. It is surrounded by landscaped areas and a retail property with residential properties beyond. Each bridge deck carries verges at both sides with DBM surfacing, a reserve carriageway, two lane dual carriageway and slip road, all with HRA surfacing. Reserve carriageways and slip roads are separated by a raised ‘verge’ section with DBM surfacing. The gap between decks is infilled with galvanized steel mesh panels. Houstoun Road, a single carriageway road, passes below the second span from the north. A footpath passes below the second span from the south, works include: · Traffic management including lane closures with contraflows and associated slip road closures. · Resurfacing of the central reserve at crossing points north and south of the bridge. · Concrete repairs to the soffit, piers and abutments of the bridge. · Maintenance painting of each bridge including bracing to the bottom flanges of two beams (due to accident damage) on the west bridge. · Replacement of the four bridge joints over the abutments. · Cleaning of six gullies on the bridge decks. These comprise repairs to both the east and west decks.
