Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) is issuing a Contract Award Notice for Garw Lakes de-silting Contract. See below for the description published on ETenderWales when tendering the contract."This is a Further Competition of the new County Council of the City and County of Cardiff, South East and Mid Wales Highways Framework Agreement Dated January 2023, Lot 7 refers.Bidder to Note: There is a Price Cap of £950,000 on this Tender / Contract. Any bids received that exceed the Price Cap will be disqualified.The Authority requires that Bidders are Registered and Verified on Constructionline to a minimum of Bronze level. SSIP accreditation also required iaw its Contract Procedure Rules (CPRs).Tender Registration Number: SEWH-3131.Brief description of works or services: The project principally involves the de-silting of two lakes used to control water run-off from several former coal tips located in the upper sections of the Garw Valley. The North (Upper) Lake is located in Parc Calon Lan, Blaengarw (grid ref: SS 89904 93061) and the South (Lower) Lake is located to the west of Victoria Street in Pontycymer (grid ref: SS 90195 91785). The South Lake is located on the Afon Garw and the North Lake is located on an unnamed tributary to the Afon Garw.Additionally, there is an outfall on the western bank of the South Lake that has partially collapsed and needs to be reinstated. The collapsed sections of headwall and associated wingwalls are to be reinstated with concrete bagwork, where elements of the original masonry structure remain this is to be reinstated and repointed.The main works consist of de-silting, and minor repair works to repointing and the replacement of the southwest training wall.The works are described in detail in The Scope (Appendix 2 to the Agreement).Contract Terms and Conditions: NEC 4 Engineering and Construction Contract, June 2017 (incorporating October 2020 amendments).
