Description

As part of the Transport for Wales (TfW)’ Core Valley Lines (CVL) Project, Balfour Beatty are in negotiations with TfW (Employer) and Amey Keolis (Project Manager) to deliver a Physical Telecoms Network - Phase A (TAM). The works are a requirement to provide Fibre Optic Cable connectivity for Signalling, Telecom and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) circuits and long-term commercial leasing. Phase A will enable the connection of the TAM (Treherbert / Aberdare / Merthyr & Radyr to Pontypridd Lines) and Canton SCADA systems as the bearer network. Due to programme constraints, the decision has been made to lease part of Network Rail Telecoms’ (NRT) existing fibre network, as well as install section of new 432 fibre cable. The Telecoms Phase B works are not included in this scope. Phase B will be let by TfW/Amey Keolis as separate package in 2021. The main form of contract is NEC3 ECC Option C (Target Cost).
