Summary of the work Developer to take a maintenance and incremental change role initially over one service but would also include the other services that fall under Service Optimisation team's responsibility. These are delivered in an Agile manner to the cloud hosted platform. What Specialists Work On Work Packages include: 1. Acting as the lead developer for a specific service. 2. Incremental development of the service to evolve the service to meet the Technical Design Authority approved technical stack, on a product road-map. 3. Ensure the service applications meet best practice coding and structural designs. Skills & Experience • Have in-depth experience of Scala programming. • Have in-depth knowledge of MySQL or Postgres • In-depth Knowledge of Akka and Play frameworks • In depth experience of working in an agile environment, including continual delivery and adhering to GDS best practices Nice to Haves • Experience of HMPO systems • Experience of cloud architectures, microservice architecture and best practices Work Location Petty France, London Working Arrangments The individual will work from the primary office in Petty France, London five days a week. There may be an occasional need to attend our other office in Central London (Victoria). No travel expenses will be paid for this purpose. Expenses for any exceptional travel authorised outside of Central London will fall under the Standard Government Terms and Conditions for Expenses as covered in the DOS Contract. Security Clearance SC Clearance is required. HM Passport Office will support the clearance process. Does this fall within IR35? We expect this engagement to be outside IR35; however status is assessed on a case-by-case basis. 2. Is the opportunity with HMPO a Home Office or Ministry of Justice position? The details mention working at Petty France which is an MoJ office, whereas HMPO is a Home Office agency, so why is the position not at e.g. Marsham Street? This role is to work for Her Majesty’s Passport Office. Projects in our department occupy a number of buildings in London and this role is based in a building on Petty France. 3. Please can you confirm if you already have resource in place or if this is a brand new position This is a brand new position 4. Please confirm estimated feedback time. Can a candidate with DV clearance be considered for this role Yes, a candidate who has valid DV clearance can be considered for the role. 9.
