Description

Oldham council currently provides several services to support residents experiencing financial crisis and to promote and enable financial resilience. Data from these services demonstrates significant need for financial support and advice. In the month of December 2025, 885 people were supported by Oldham Foodbank, and the most common reason for referral into this provision was financial, namely high debts, costs and expenses. Within this category, priority debt and rising costs of living expenses are among the most common reasons for accessing support. From April 2025 until January 2026 the Oldham helpline received 12,011 calls, more than half of these calls related to requests for support with emergency food provision. The current advice Provider have identified that the most common reason for contact was help with benefits and tax credits, followed by debt advice. As at Autumn 2025, over 200 residents eligible for Pension Credit were not claiming. Keywords: Audit Services
