Provision of Solicitors to the Inquests (STI) Services

Description

The Authority Coroners Services are preparing for the initial batch of referrals from Operation Magenta, a Police investigation into over 800 deaths at Gosport War Memorial Hospital. This is expected to have a significant impact on the Coroners Service, particularly in terms of case management and the preparation of inquests. The Senior Coroner has highlighted the necessity to appoint Solicitors to Inquest to provide dedicated support with case management and preparation, these appointments are likely to span several years. The Government Commercial Agency, Public Sector Legal Services RM6240 framework, Lot 1a, was identified as the most viable framework for this procurement and a mini competition has been undertaken to secure best value.
