Description

The EPA is the National Authority for implementing the Environmental Noise Directive in Ireland. Its role includes supervisory, advisory and co-ordinating functions in relation to the Noise Mapping Bodies and Action Planning Authorities. It is also responsible for the collection, collation and reporting of the required data to the European Commission. The Agency has produced guidance in relation to noise mapping and action planning and has also organised numerous workshops to assist the relevant bodies in the execution of their duties.The contract will run for a period of 12 months commencing on the date of award of the contract. It is anticipated that the contract will commence in May 2011.The contract relates to a maximum days input of 40 days in total over a 12 month period.1. The consultant will assist the EPA in its supervisory, advisory and co-ordination functions. Duties may include the following:- Confirmation of the extents of the various entities to be noise mapped;- Establishment and co-ordination of the various working groups including the organisation, chairing, reporting on and any follow-up work required;- Organisation and execution of workshops/training, where required;- Provision of technical advice and support to the Noise Mapping Bodies, where required; and- Report progress on the above to the Agency, as agreed.
