AO 10640 ‘Creation of e-books in EPUB or similar format’

Description

The purpose of the call for tenders is the selection of up to 6 economic operators for the provision of services related to the creation of e-books in EPUB or similar formats. The subject of this call for tenders is the production of electronic books (e-books). The contract covers: 1. the conversion of existing publications to an e-book format; 2. the creation of new publications in an e-book format. The e-books may be requested in any language although most probably in one of the official languages of the European Union. It should also be noted that a title is more likely to appear in 1 (English), 2–3 (English, French and/or German) or in more than 20 linguistic versions than in any number between 4 and 20. The e-book format selected by the Publications Office of the European Union is EPUB as it has been defined by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF, www.idpf.org). Other e-book formats could also come into question, e.g. proprietary e-book formats such as the ones developed by Apple (e.g. iBooks) or Amazon (e.g. mobi), as could other types of e-books (e.g. flipping books).
