Description
The British Library (BL) has made a growing investment in SUN hardware and software over the past few years. The BL now requires a contract with 3rd party to provide Support and Maintenance for these servers. These include 150 workstation, V210/240, V480, V880, V1280 and Sunfire 6800 models. They run a variety of Business applications, including Web Services, Oracle Databases and specialised cataloguing applications. They currently run a mixture of Solaris 8 and 9. The equipment is currently all located in Boston Spa, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, but some equipment is being relocated to St Pancras, London and there is a possibility of some re-location to another site(s) within the UK. The BL requires 3rd party support to help the internal Server Support team manage and maintain the systems. The current level of cover is Sun Platinum support, but it is envisaged that we will consider offerings in the Platinum or Gold support plans depending upon the cost and importance of the system. Telephone Support, access to patches and fixes, knowledge base access and Hardware failure diagnosis/replacement are required. The cover is expected to be required from 1st April 2006 by which time most of the hardware will be outside the standard SUN warranty period. A full list of equipment to be covered, with serial numbers, will be given to companies which respond and pass our PQQ. It is envisaged that the contract will be made for a period of three years in the first instance, with scope to renew annually for a further two years.
