Llanfairfechan Sea Wall Repair

Description

The works are located on the coastal path southwest of Llanfairfechan between the Pavilion Car Park and Glan y Mor Elias. The remedial works extends approximately 450m of the coastal wall. The structure is made up of a front facing masonry wall, concrete coping, splash deck, dwarf wall and backfill made up of sandy/cobbles. The coastal wall provides defence to agricultural land, the North Wales Express Way and North Wales Coast Line (Transport Wales). The works will include, but not limited to: Taking up the existing masonry dwarf wall and splash deck Fill voids below splash deck with excavated material and compact Construct new concrete splash deck and splash wall Replace approximately 100m of concrete capping Replace sections of front facing masonry wall approximately 30m2 Repointing front facing wall with class 1 mortar approximately 300m2 The contractor will also be required to construct a temporary access ramp on both side of the sea wall adjacent to the Pavilion car park. The ramp on the sea side will consist of available shingle and car park side will consist of imported granular material, both sides must be reinstated after works completion.
