Research and development project for a new instrument for endoscopic obesity treatment at Oslo University Hospital

Description

The contract concerns the purchase of services for a research project (the Slimstich project) for a new medical instrument for endoscopic obesity treatment at Oslo University Hospital (Norwegian: OUS). The contract will be entered into in accordance with the Government's standard agreement (SSA-O (Assignment Contract)). The contract has an estimated start date of June/July 2023, with a duration until October 2025 including options. The maximum value of the contract is NOK 4.2 million. Lot 1: The Slimstitch project is a research-based innovation project at OUS. The goal is to develop a new medical device for effective, minimally invasive and safe obesity treatment. Initially, the project will establish a prototype of the instrument, with an option for two additional processes for further development of the first prototype. There is no equivalent medical device on the current market, and the development of the device will constitute an extensive part of the research project. Market research has therefore been conducted in Norway and abroad. There is one supplier that appears to be a potential product developer for the project, Movement Industrial Design Ltd. (Movement). OUS intends to enter into an agreement with Movement, which specialises in such product development of medical equipment and health technology.
