Analyse the retail sector in Ireland and provide recommendations for policy formulation

• To analyse the impact of the future trends, opportunities and challenges on the retail sector in Ireland (keeping in mind the variations in impacts and trends deriving from the size, scale, location and subsector). • To develop a set of proposals to guide policy formulation based on the research evidence Lot 218512: Research and Consultancy Services to identify and analyse the challenges and opportunities affecting the retail sector and to provide recommendations to inform policy formulation. The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE) is commissioning research which will identify and analyse the key factors that have impacted the retail sector in recent years and the likely future trends, opportunities and challenges facing the retail sector. The Study will provide an evidence-based foundation for ongoing engagement with retail sector stakeholders and will identify retail sector policy options for consideration by the Department and ultimately by Government. • Some objectives of the study and research include; to map out the scale, scope and recent dynamics of the retail landscape in Ireland; to identify the immediate issues facing the retail sector in Ireland and internationally; to identify the drivers of change and trends, opportunities and challenges facing the retail sector in Ireland and internationally.
