Tender for the Delivery of Managed Breach Engineering Works And Wetland Habitat Groundworks At RSPB Baron's Haugh RSPB Scotland wishes to commission a contractor to deliver groundworks in accordance with the design and specification produced by AECOM. Full AECOM technical specification and design information is provided in Appendix 1 of this ITT.. The main outputs of the project will include the following: -Creation of a 50-metre-wide breach in the western embankment surrounding the Baron’s Haugh Wetland, set at 23mAOD. -Excavation in raised ground to create new shallow wetland pools in the eastern section of the Baron’s Haugh wetland. The shape and profile of the wetland pool edges will be created to provide beneficial habitat for wetland birds. -Creation of four new low embankments with a 3-metre-wide crest and side slopes set at 1 in 3 in the eastern section of the Baron’s Haugh wetland. The combined length of these embankments will be 155 metres and they will be formed using material won on site. -The creation of two islands set within the new wetland pools to create nesting and roosting habitats for wetland birds. Previous experience of working in wet conditions alongside moving water will be valuable for this project considering the expected conditions on site. Project management and site supervision for the delivery of the groundwork will be provided by AECOM. The contract will be awarded on the condition of securing all permissions and consents - all applications have been submitted and we are awaiting the outcome of these.
