LFRS, is at an early stage in the development of its proposals and prior to formulating any formal procurement opportunity, seeks input from the market as to what might be the most potentially attractive way of packaging and scoping a future procurement opportunity. This exercise will provide an opportunity for LFRS to obtain insight into how potential providers might approach the delivery of the supply and services in question. It also gives useful early insight into the likely level of interest in a proposed project from that market. Currently the Authority manages c18,000 garments at over 40 stations within the Lancashire and South Cumbria area. To do this the Authority utilises low frequency tags that are stitched into each garment (such as a tunic), scanners are then used to scan the tags within the garments to update their status and location. The information from the scanners then feeds into a database and that database is then used to facilitate the management of the services pooled PPE.
