Description

Orkney Islands Council has a requirement for a redisigned corporate website based on feedback received from users. Together with the new website, the Authority will require 5 years of maintenance and support for the website. Lot 1: The Authority has a requirement for a redesigned Orkney Islands Council website based on extensive user feedback. The website receives over 50 thousand users a month and has been improved over recent years (see Appendix C within OIC Website - Specification V1-1 document). However, it still has significant usability challenges, particularly with navigation, with many users resorting to Google searches instead of navigating the site directly. The new website is requested to address these issues through a user-centred design approach, focusing on simplicity, accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and a modern aesthetic -ensuring that users can find what they need in 3-4 clicks. The specification has been based around user feedback from a public survey conducted in April-May 2025 and from a diverse staff reference group who have been involved in the improvements to the website over the past few years.
