Description

Light Rail Development [Bybanen Utbygging] is in the process of preparing for the procurement of a signalling system for the Light Rail construction stage 5 from Bergen city centre to Åsane. The procurement is scheduled to be announced at the end of this year, and the contract will be signed with the selected contractor in late summer 2024. The line is planned to be realised in two construction stages. The first stage is approx. 2.5 km of double track from the city centre to Amalie Skrams Vei (Sandviken) with possible opening in 2028. The next stage is approx. 10 kilometres of double track from Amalie Skrams Vei to Åsane, scheduled to open in 2033. This stage also includes a covered car park in Åsane. In addition, the contract will also include options for further construction stages. The procurement will be carried out as a two-stage negotiation procedure and the contract will be a turnkey contract (EPCI contract (Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning and Installation)) that will include track signalling systems, point steering, a central system and driving machines for points. Lot 1: Light Rail Development has learnt that some tenderers are somewhat uncertain about the interface between their systems, especially axle counters, and the vehicle stock used on the Bergen Light Rail. As a risk-reduction measure, Light Rail development hereby informs tenderers that it will be possible to carry out testing of the tenderers' systems against the vehicle stock for Bergen Light Rail during the period 15 September to 15 December in Bergen. Bybanen AS, the operating organisation for Bergen Light Rail, will make a test track available at the Kokstad depot where tenderers can carry out test installations of their system. The depot is located near Bergen Airport. Vehicles such as the Stadler Variobahn and various operational vehicles will be organised so that they can be used for testing. Tenderers are responsible for coordinating their work and all internal costs related to the testing. Light Rail Development is responsible for organising vehicle tests on the test track. All testing must be completed, and equipment removed, by the end of the given test period. Tenderers who want to take advantage of the opportunity to test equipment can contact Light Rail development as soon as possible with contact information to agree on the desired test period.
