Description

In the frame of its Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management programme, the JRC Ispra has designed and qualified a final waste package (FWP) to be used for conditioning low-level and very low-level solid radioactive waste. The FWP is based on a prismatic container made of carbon steel, referred as ‘CP-5.2’ according to the UNI Italian standard. The JRC Ispra will have to acquire a significant amount of CP-5.2 containers in the coming years. Additional to the supply of the CP-5.2 containers, the JRC Ispra needs to purchase adjustable steel pallets, in order to temporarily store cylindrical containers (‘CC-220’ to ‘CC-440’) containing radioactive waste. The FWPs and the pallets are to be safely stored in the Interim Storage Facility of the JRC Ispra. Ultimately, the FWPs will be transferred to the Italian final repository. The purpose of the tendering procedure is to purchase the CP-5.2 containers and the pallets by means of a multi-annual framework contract.
