Description
The ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems) asset consists of the following: · 690 traffic signal sites (junctions and pedestrian crossings) · 340 interactive warning signs · 90 roadside message signs · 2 access control systems (rising bollard and over-height vehicle detection) · 140 CCTV cameras (excluded from Telent contract) The service operates and maintains a wide variety of equipment, primarily traffic signals. The existing contract includes: traffic lights, vehicle detection systems, speed and hazard warning signs, roadside message signs, over-height vehicle detection and rising bollard equipment. It does not cover CCTV cameras, fibre optic cables, wireless communications links or HMC in-station technology. The contract involves both revenue funding (900 000 GBP per annum) and capital investment in the asset of approximately 500 000 GBP per year. The Council are required to ensure that the Traffic Systems Assets are maintained in safe working order. The figures provided are based on the average cost over the life of the previous contract.
