Description

In 2008, a number of extensions were made to the victims and survivors right to legal aid counsel in connection with management of Ot.prp.nº.11 (2007-2008). The changes have not been evaluated. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security wants to perform an evaluation. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security manages a number of schemes that shall ensure legal security for individuals and groups, hereunder the scheme for legal aid counsel. In 2008, a number of extensions were made to the victims and survivors right to legal aid counsel in connection with management of Ot.prp.nº.11 (2007-2008). The changes made this time have not been evaluated. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security now wants to perform an evaluation. The evaluation shall give the Ministry, the Norwegian Government and the Norwegian Parliament a good basis to evaluate what the consequences of the changes in the legal aid counsel schemes in 2008 have been, whether the legal aid counsel scheme works as intended, whether it is effective enough, and whether changes should be made to the Act.
