Description
NatureScot intends to engage with the market to understand the capability, capacity, and approaches available for delivering evidence based wildfire resilience assessment and long term mitigation planning for Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve (NNR), located near Kinlochewe in the Highlands of Scotland. As part of this we would like to look at the comparative wildfire resilience of the main habitat types found on the NNR, which could help to inform future management to improve resilience, ideally through nature-based solutions Beinn Eighe, designated in 1951 as the UK’s first National Nature Reserve, contains the largest remnant of Caledonian Pinewood in north west Scotland and is of exceptional ecological value. As part of developing the procurement approach NatureScot is seeking views and information from the marketplace through this Prior Information Notice PIN. Beinn Eighe is of exceptional ecological importance and contains the largest remnant of Caledonian Pinewood in north west Scotland. NatureScot is seeking to adopt a strategic and landscape scale approach to wildfire resilience. The potential requirement is expected to include the assessment of wildfire risk across a range of habitat types, the identification of key environmental parameters, and the development of mitigation options to improve long term resilience. This may also include modelling of wildfire scenarios and field data collection to support analysis. NatureScot is particularly interested in understanding the comparative wildfire resilience of different habitat types and how targeted interventions may reduce the likelihood and spread of wildfire. This Prior Information Notice is issued for information gathering and early market engagement only and does not constitute a call for competition.. NatureScot has developed a supplier questionnaire to support this market engagement exercise.
