Description

The North East Enhanced Immunisation Service is designed to deliver immunisations to the population in the North East of the borough, particularly the Charedi community. The Charedi community has lower vaccine uptake rates than the average amongst Hackney residents. The aims of the service are provided below: To overcome barriers to access by providing regular Enhanced Access Clinics to residents in the North-East of Hackney; To offer routine and catch-up vaccinations (to anyone eligible, as per criteria detailed below), including providing pregnancy vaccinations, in order to increase immunisations take-up and cover within the borough; To ensure those eligible for vaccination are aware of the offer and encourage them to come forward; To continuously improve the Service based on learning, feedback and evaluation; To work flexibly with the NEL ICB, the Council and other relevant partners, in order to identify, report and react to emerging risks and concerns The Enhanced immunisation service has been delivered by City and Hackney Integrated Primary Care since Autumn 2022. This consisted of members of the Springfield PCN team delivering the following enhanced service Sunday clinics at Spring Hill Group Practice Sunday clinics at Stamford Hill Group Practice Thursday afternoon clinics at Lubovitch Children Centre The service has been supported by a previously NHSE funded immunisation coordinator role 0.7 FTE. The immunisation coordinator is the engagement lead for the service and works closely with community members and organisations to produce co-produced initiatives. The service also funds additional nursing, administration and management support. Additional call/recall was provided where possible by the central call/recall team, then subsequently by additional in house call recall support. The Current contract for this service ended in March 2025. The current provider has continued delivering this service including through a high demand period following an outbreak of Measles during May 2025. It is recommended, therefore, that a new 12-month contract, is awarded to City and Hackney IPC under the Direct Award Process C of the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) for Health Services. It is recommended that the contract is issued with a starting date of 1st April 2025, as City and Hackney IPC have continued to deliver the Service beyond the 31st March date when the last contract provisionally came to an end. Under the PSR Direct Award Process C, a new contract can be issued to the existing provider of a service without competition, provided that their current performance is satisfactory, the provider is likely to satisfy the proposed new contract, and the contract is not changing considerably.
