The University of Birmingham (‘the University’) requires a Door Access System for its portfolio of c 4 000 bed-spaces soon to increase to nearly 5 000. Currently the University has a traditional suited key locking system to its accommodation with some isolated electronic door locking systems to a number of mobility flats, common/social spaces and a number in various locations on campus. . The Door Access System must be fully compatible with the existing Cardax (Gallagher) access control system installed on the University campus. If the proposed system is not fully compatible, all integration costs must be met by the Supplier. Suppliers are expected to adequately identify the benefits of their relevant solution, which must satisfy the University's principal need to achieve value for money. Offers shall be fit for any purpose made known to suppliers expressly or by implication and, in this respect, the University relies on the suppliers' skill and judgement in recommending appropriate equipment under this tender.
