Description
City Building on behalf of it's client is looking to appoint a steelworks contractor in support of works for the redevelopment of the city's Easter Queenslie waste depot. A major revamp of the site is seen as vital to Glasgow City Council’s plans to improve recycling in the City. Currently, Glasgow’s recycling rate is reported at 27.2% — one of the lowest in Scotland. The plans include a new material recovery facility (MRF), which would handle items such as plastic containers, bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. Lot 1: City Building requires on behalf of its client to contract with a successful contractor who is a specialist in structural steelwork as part of a works package at Easter Queenslie. These works are part of the redevelopment of Glasgow City Council’s Easter Queenslie recycling centre to keep up-to-date with legislative requirements on how the City undertakes their recycling. Once complete the new materials recycling facility will use advanced technology to separate recyclable materials that will ensure high quantities of quality material can go forward for recycling. The Easter Queenslie is a key component of the transformation of GCC’s waste programme across the city to reduce the carbon impact of waste in our environment, significantly improve the recycling rates and generate significant financial efficiencies from the improved quantity and quality of recyclable materials. The proposed award is for the structural steel components, design, build and install required to construct this new facility. All works need to be in line with the issued specifications with the tender documents. To this end it is essential that CBC/CBG contracts with a successful bidder that can fully demonstrate expertise and excellence in the scope required. The successful bidder must understand the requirement for business agility and cost control across the service. The contract will be awarded based on a single source supply. The successful bidder must ensure that the service levels required by CBG are provided to the highest of standards. The successful bidder must provide a strategic and proactive approach and be prepared to work with CBC/CBG in terms of continual improvement and innovation. The contract will be for 12 weeks - estimated. Any extension period will be at CBG’s absolute and sole discretion in-line with their client’s requirements. The conditions of contract for this are Standard Building Sub-Contract With Sub-Contractors Design Agreement - 2016 Edition for use in Scotland.
