Description

Erection of ca 2km and 1.5km of deer-fencing, creating two enclosures for riparian woodland creation. Removal of ca 700m of redundant deer fencing. The scope of this project is to construct two deer fences with gates at two Sites along headwaters of the river Enrick, located at Corrimony Farm, Glen Urquhart. These will protect the planting of native woodlands along the watercourses from herbivore impacts. There will be direct contact between Trees for Life and the chosen contractor. The work will also require interfacing with the local landowner and their neighbours. This invitation to tender is being advertised through the Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) portal. The contractor will be required to: ● Source materials and labour to install two deer fences, gates and fence markings at Sites 2 and 3 as per Map 1. ● Transport all materials to the sites. ● Build deer fences in line with the Forestry Grant Scheme requirements: ○ Deer fencing for areas in excess of five hectares with a minimum fence height of two metres for red deer protection with a maximum width between vertical on mesh of 30cm and a maximum height between horizontals on mesh of 22cm. ● Installation of ca 1.9km deer fencing at Site 2, three deer fence access gates and three water gates (two gates across burn 1m in width and one gate across burn 2m width). ● Installation of ca 1.5km deer fencing at Site 3, four deer fence access gates, two water gates (one water gate across a burn of 2m width and one across a burn 4m in width). ● Removal and replacement of ca 700m of defunct deer fencing at Site 3 (included in the total length of 1.5km of new fencing). ● The moveable vertical parts of the water gates should be polyurethane. ● Marking of fence with individual, diagonal 1.2 m chestnut or sawn softwood pales @1 m apart at both ends. ● Completion of the works between August and December 2023.
