Description
The Mid-Leinster Farmer Wellbeing Project will aim to recruit 100 farmers in the region to participate in developing a social support network via a training in action programme through this EIP Programme. Increasingly rural communities can be bereft of the “meitheal” of old, a community and social structure that is sadly mostly passed in many places. The objective of the project is to draw farmers together to learn new skills and share experiences (traditional building skills / willow making / hedge laying) and to participate in restorative adventure activities that they would usually not have access to or possibly afford. This programme aims to engage the group at an open day, asking the individuals about their current social interactions, digital literacy, skills, and compliance worries. Taking a data driven approach on their distance travelled during their participation of this “new social structure” in Mid Leinster. Data will be used to iterate each programme customising it depending on needs, with each farmer working on their own personal progression. The dissemination of the aggregated data plus the ongoing monthly meet up will create both sustainability and added value to the project. This programme will allow for peer-to-peer interaction (Psychological support in terms of helping them recover from the stress), digital training and change management methodologies to support new CAP complicated compliancy issues and reduce stress. Governance will be a very important feature of this project, objectives and outcomes will be reported and reviewed on an ongoing basis. Dissemination is the final stage of this project where data from the distance travelled, and post program evaluation will be shared across other leader partnerships. From this data, it is hoped that this methodology can be resourced the new programme funding and applied to other cohorts and rolled out nationally.
