Kildare Co. Co. has awarded a contract for the design and management of an event to celebrate St. Brigid. Brigid 1500 is a programme of events, delivered by Kildare County Council, to celebrate and commemorate St. Brigid, the woman, the life and the legacy in a broad and rich way. The main aim of Brigid 1500 is to create a meaningful cultural and societal legacy that appeals to a diverse contemporary audience. Brigid 1500 will engage communities with the story and heritage of St. Brigid, providing a tangible connection with the past through events and programmes that have an ongoing meaning and relevance. The programme will engage with the values St. Brigid championed including arts and culture, biodiversity and sustainability, faith and spirituality, social justice, peace, hospitality and education. The ‘Brigid 1500’ programme is composed of a series of events and initiatives including festivals, concerts, talks, illuminations, pilgrimages, and craft workshops as well as a schools’ programme to celebrate St. Brigid’s lasting legacy. Lot 1: A contract has been awarded to deliver the Brigid 1500 event for 2024. Programme Objectives include (i) To create a programme to celebrate and commemorate St Brigid, the woman, the life and the legacy in a broad and rich way; (ii) To generate a meaningful cultural and societal legacy that will exist following the programme completion; (iii) To appeal to a wide audience in terms of age, beliefs, and geography and to celebrate the increasing diversity of contemporary society; (iv) To celebrate and engage with the values St. Brigid championed including faith and spirituality, biodiversity and sustainability, arts and culture, social justice, peace, hospitality and education; (v) To engage communities with the story and legacy of St. Brigid, providing a tangible connection with the past through events and programmes that have an ongoing meaning and relevance to contemporary society. As the service is classified as a Title III Service within Directive 2014/24/EU and the value falls below the applicable threshold, this notice is being published on a voluntary basis to notify the market of the intention to award the contract.
