Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software package

All of the information contained within this Prior Information Note (PIN) does not constitute, and should not be construed as, any commitment by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to proceed with any aspect of this activity. The Authority is developing a strategy to continue the provision of CAD/CAM software for the fixed Machine tools within its aviation workshops. The Authority requests responses to this PIN by 23:59 8.7.2019. The Authority is developing a strategy to continue the provision of CAD/CAM software for the fixed Machine tools within its aviation workshops. As part of developing this strategy the Authority would be keen to know the practicalities of converting programs developed in FeatureCAM software (FM file extensions) into alternative CAD/CAM software, without the need to re-define tool paths, tool definitions, speeds and feeds and stock material. The Authority has developed a significant number of programs within its current software and would be keen to know whether these can be transferred to a new system without loss of function, this is especially in regards to integration with the machine.
