This invitation to tender covers: the development of a framework model for global value chains business statistics and carrying out a pilot study of the global value chain of a specific industry or a product. The main objective of the provided services is to develop a new framework model for Global Value Chains for business statistics. Existing business and trade statistics have often developed independently of each other. Furthermore, the statistics are reported by each country separately and the statistical unit usually is the (national) enterprise. Therefore, the ‘sum’ of all views does not necessarily make us wiser about the global picture, i.e. statistics do not capture the activities of a global enterprise but fragments of it, as they move across borders. This work will be based on previous work in the field of GVCs and aims at providing a framework for further development in the field of business statistics. Leaning on the development of the GVC model framework will be the design and carrying out of a pilot GVC study, in order to compliment the framework with real world data.
