Description
The aim of the IV therapy and Bisphosphonates service is to enable Stockport patients aged 18 years and over who are medically stable to safely receive intravenous therapy in a community health care setting or the patient's own home for selected frail and housebound patients, thereby reducing avoidable hospital admissions and facilitating early hospital discharge. The community IV service is predominantly to avoid hospital admissions (step-up) for patients requiring IV antibiotic once daily treatment (OD) or twice daily (BD) for a short duration (average 3 days, maximum 15 days). The service will also accept a number of referrals for step down patients from hospital. Where clinically appropriate the service will empower patients to self-administer. The key objectives of this service are: 1. To provide high quality care closer to home to meet patient's needs. 2. To avoid hospital admissions. 3. To support early hospital discharge. 4. To provide timely access to assessment, treatment and care which is safe and effective to manage patients requiring IV therapy in the community. 5. Following clinical assessment and where capacity permits to offer IV hydration therapy for the treatment of dehydration. A management plan will be in place to help avoid hospital admission. 6. To support the Stockport sexual health team in Out of Hours and bank holidays with patient who require daily IM injections of Procaine. Lot 1: This is a competitive ITT conducted in accordance with the Competitive Process under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 (the "Regulations") The procurement of the Services is being run as a bespoke, single-stage application process. The community Intravenous (IV) Therapy and Bisphosphonates service will enable medically stable patients to receive short term intravenous or subcutaneous therapy in a community health care setting such as a clinic, or in their own home for eligible frail and housebound patients. The Contract to be awarded as a result of this Procurement will have an initial term of three -years commencing from 01 April 2026. The Authority will also have the option extend the initial term of the Contract to a maximum term of five years to 31 March 2031 (3years + 2years).
