Summary of the work Software Developer required with extensive experience in delivering MVC applications, TDD and responsive web pages using HTML, CSS, jQuery and Bootstrap. This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver Phase 1 of a redesign project for the Managed Learning Environment for Police and Staff, providing mobile capability to all users. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 3 months with an extension period of a further 3 months Latest start date Thursday 2 November 2017 Maximum Day Rate £400-450 per day Early Market Engagement User research on the existing platform has identified a series of improvements to improve the overall experience for Police Officers and Staff. Phase 1 addresses the user experience issues through a significant redesign and we are rebuilding the application to ensure it is compatible across all modern day browsers and mobile devices. Who Speclialist Work With The Software Developer will be working within an Agile environment and be predominately working alongside internal software developers with support from a DBA for any work relating to the database. You'll report to the Software Development Manager and will work closely with the Product Owner and Delivery Manager who will define the sprints. The sprint team will also include application specialists and designers as and when required. What Specialists Work On The College of Policing is looking for a highly skilled software developer to help deliver the Phase 1 redesign of the Managed Learning Environment available to all Police Officers and Staff. Working within an existing ASP.NET MVC architecture and NHibernate data layer (SQL Server backend DB), it will involve the development of fully responsive front-end web pages that match pre-existing design work (HTML, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap), the writing of automated tests, creation of service layer functions, and MVC controllers, actions and view models. Skills & Experience • Extensive experience of ASP.NET MVC using C#.NET • Extensive experience of building responsive web applications using Bootstrap • Extensive experience of front-end development using HTML, jQuery, JavaScript, CSS • Experience writing unit tests using MSTest and Moq • Experience using NHibernate data layers and Fluent NHibernate queries • Experience using and developing for Microsoft SQL Server • Experience of source/version control using Team Foundation Server 2017 • Experience using Visual Studio 2017 IDE and debugging tools • Experience developing online learning platforms • Extensive experience working for Law Enforcement Agencies • Experience using Slick carousel controls • Experience producing front-end UI from design specifications and style guides • Experience of Agile working practices • Must apply and promote the College of Policing Code of Ethics and Integrity principles Nice to Haves • Experience meeting W3C's WCAG AA standard for DDA compliance • Experience writing automated Load and Performance Tests Work Location Westminster, London. SW1H 9JA Working Arrangments Full-Time onsite, Monday to Friday, 36 Hours per week. Flexible working patterns will be allowed with prior agreement. Security Clearance Current NPPV2 (Proof of clearance will be required before contract can be awarded) Additional T&Cs The contract is for a 3 month duration but with the option of extending this for a further 3 months. Would you accept SC level clearance? Unfortunately no, we require either NPPV2 or NPPV3 clearance to work on this project. 6. I have contractors in Police forces and they have not been able to transfer clearance from one police force to another police force - they have had to go through it again. Is the contractor required to have clearance prior to accepting the position? As long as proof of current NPPV2 clearance can be provided we are happy to accept this, irrespective of the issuing force. 7. Can NPPV2 clearance be applied for as part of the application process for this contract? If not can you advise as to where this clearance can be obtained? We require proof of clearance up front before any contract can be awarded, therefore current clearance is required. Clearance is obtained by Police Force sponsors, usually as a result of previous work.
