Description
In order to fulfil our operating licence and comply with obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (“Act”), Network Rail must have a system to provide rules and decisions to assure the Health and Safety of everyone accessing and working on our controlled infrastructure within the industry. When a worker accesses the infrastructure, we need to be assured that: They are ‘Sponsored’ by a company who are authorised to put people to work on the infrastructure They have been assessed to be medically fit (or medical fit with restrictions) to undertake the required tasks They have not failed a drugs and alcohol test They hold the appropriate skills and training (competences) to access the managed infrastructure and undertake the tasks required They are not at risk of fatigue
