Description
Leicestershire County Council wish to provide face-to-face moving and handling of people training for Leicestershire County Council's adult social care workers. These workers will provide hands-on care to the people of Leicestershire from a range of services, including but not limited to: home care and reablement, crisis response, residential, supported living, and community life choices. An understanding of the legislation and how this relates to the responsibilities of employees and employers in the workplace is vital in ensuring compliance with regulation and CQC requirements. The practical elements of moving and handling are equally, if not more, important. Learning about the use of equipment, posture, movement and different handling techniques will greatly enhance the effectiveness and safety of care. Leicestershire County Council wishes to procure an experienced provider to deliver a planned programme of training to ensure all staff receive the appropriate level of training for their role with updates as required. A programme of approx. 33 face-to-face training sessions per year is required, to be held at venues provided by the County Council. An e-learning is already written to be completed by delegates before the course. Booking and admin to be completed by LCC. We require a 3 year contract with an option to extend for a fourth year. The individual trainers we seek must: Have relevant professional experience and ‘People Movers Moving & Handling Trainer / Assessor (Level 3)’ qualification or equivalent. Have up-to-date knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to Moving &Handling of People, including but not limited to: The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 The Management of Health and Safety at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2006 The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended 2002) Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 The Human Rights Act 1998 Mental Capacity Act 2005 Have an understanding of spinal function and how to reduce the risk of injury by the use of posture and safe handling principles. Have a sound knowledge of risk assessment and how to undertake a manual handling risk assessment Demonstrate the ability to undertake a range of manual handling manoeuvres safely including the use of patient hoists, slings and a range of small manual handling equipment Articulate a good knowledge of commonly known ‘controversial techniques’ in relation to manual handling manoeuvres and explain why they may be classed as such. Have up-to-date skills and knowledge regarding single handed care techniques Work with Learning & Development and operational managers / senior occupational therapist to develop and agree training resources and delivery in line with statutory requirements and the needs of the service.
