Description

Northern Ireland fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) has used the NEC Software Solutions UK, (Previously known as Northgate Information Solutions), Geographical Information System (GIS) in its current iteration, since 2015. It comprises bespoke software licensed and maintained by NEC, who hold the intellectual property rights (IPR) for the software code and its constituent parts. This is made up of Software licences for Compass, which is a powerful address management gazetteer application that is fully compliant with the BS 7666 standard - this standard specifies a national format for storing property and street information. The database of addresses it supplies is required by Systems Support, to provide address information vital for the effective mobilisation of resources by the Regional Control Centre (RCC). It also allows additional information such as the location of hydrants, fire stations etc. to be stored. xc is the operator's visualisation tool, augmenting the NIFRS's command and control by dynamically tracking the current operational situation and facilitating informed decision making. It does this by providing locations of resources and incidents on Blueworld8. ## Contract award
