Intention notice — Procurement of equipment for intra-operative radiation therapy at the Cancer Clinic, St. Olavs Hospital HF. A decision has been made that St. Olavs Hospital HF (Org. No 883 974 832) shall procure equipment for intra operative radiation therapy for breast cancer. The Cancer Clinic has, in the last 10 years, run intra operative radiation therapy with 50 kV x-ray by Intrabeam (Zeiss). The equipment has delivered radial radiation with quick dose decline from spherical applicators that are placed in the cut during anaesthesia. This has given a high dose near the operation cavity and a low dose to the surrounding normal tissue. The treatment has been carried out as a part of a random study (Targit A) and will now be continued in an internal follow-up study. The existing Intrabeam must be replaced during the year and the Cancer Department now wants to procure new equipment that can deliver equivalent functionality and dose distribution as the existing Intrabeam. We would like the new procurement to give treatment that is as close as possible to the existing equipment in order to continue the research study that is ongoing, as well as to reduce the use of resources in training. The contract value is estimated to approx. 5 000 000 NOK including VAT.
