Services to include: • Contractors will be required to go to sea aboard commercial fishing vessels in order to sample and record fishery catch data as directed by Fisheries Ecosystems Advisory Services according to FEAS catch sampling protocols. This data includes but is not exclusive to: Recording of catch information, recording of discard information, recording of fishing gear and locations, recording of incidental by-catch information, recording of environmental information, identification of fish and benthos and recording of length measurements, • Contractors will provide clear and legible data sheets with the all of the trip information and return this data to the MI • The contractor may be required to bring ashore biological samples for further analysis by Marine Institute personnel • The contractor when directed shall bring ashore samples of catch and landings from the Nephrops directed fishery. • Contractors will take biological samples from any incidental by-catch (tissue/blubber samples) and will bring ashore other samples as directed • Contractors will outline their availability on a web and mobile based application such as Teamup • Catch Sampling Trips will be arranged by the catch sampling co-ordinator and potential trips will be offered out to the available contractors starting with the highest ranked contractor on the list according to their evaluation scores. • Subsequent trips will be allocated by rotation i.e available contractors will be offered trips who rank highest but have not been awarded a trip during the previous offer. • The contractor will inform the Marine Institute sampling coordinator of the departure time, date vessel and general fishing area and estimated return date via text message uploading onto the safety data base • The Marine Institute will provide a Personal Locator Beacon but all other safety equipment must be provided by the contractor.
