Description

Tenders are sought for the Supply, Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of an Automated Thermal Desorber coupled with a Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometry (ATD-GCMS) for the analysis of ignitable liquids in vapour samples. This will be an addition to the current ATD-GCMS in the Fires team of the Chemistry department to be able to deal with the volume of fire cases submitted to FSI. Materials submitted for analysis ignitable liquids include debris samples taken from a fire scene, clothing taken from suspects or victims, or any other solid sample where it is desired to determine whether or not there are ignitable liquids associated with it. Such samples are submitted to the Laboratory in sealed nylon bags. The customer need is for FSI to determine accurately, reliably and to an acceptable level of sensitivity whether or not such exhibits contain ignitable liquids.
