Summary of the work Cyber Mission Data-Alpha(CMD-A) shall improve the quality of Defence data, through new data structures to enable data exploitation through Machine Learning and Data Science. CMD-A will facilitate the delivery of new Cyber Insights upon data currently held and identify information to assist decision making whilst saving resource effort through automation. Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length 18 months Latest start date Tuesday 13 April 2021 Maximum Day Rate £1300 per day MAX. (exclusive of VAT and Inclusive of T&S) Who Speclialist Work With The Senior Data Architect will work within the multi-disciplined Cyber Mission Data Alpha team. This team consists of Authority Crown Servants, current contract supplier technical resource, and separately procured technical resource. The Cyber Mission Data Alpha team fits within the current construct of the Data as a Service function, which forms part of the wider Defence Cyber Operations. What Specialists Work On You will guide the business stakeholders and shape the business data strategy, by creating roadmaps for the delivery of CMD. You will effectively combine long-term strategic vision with hands-on, practical architecture in the design of solutions for data acquisition, data storage and data exploitation. You will identify and eliminate gaps in data governance and information management practices, leading to higher data management maturity. You will possess excellent data modelling skills, to support both operational/business reporting Cyber use cases. You will analyse system requirements and implement migration methods for existing data through SQL, Oracle, predictive analysis and data visualization techniques. Skills & Experience • Master’s in computer science, Business or similar field (5%) • 5+ year’s practitioner experience as a Data Architect (10%) • Must have experience of enforcing legal policies and requirements for processing, storing and using data for the purposes of Cyber Defence (5%) • Ability to produce High- & Low-Level Diagrams (5%) • Experience with cloud based Big Data Tech Stack such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud (3%) • Experience of delivering Data Lake Implementations (5%) • Experience of leading multi-skilled, geographically distributed teams delivering big data implementations (10%) • Previous experience working on Big Data environments (5%) • In-depth understanding of database structure principles (10%) • Experience gathering and analysing system requirements (3%) • Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques (2%) • Expertise in SQL and Oracle (1%) • Familiarity with data visualization tools (1%) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/data-architect Nice to Haves • Previous experience working within a defence or intelligence environment • Previous experience working within a defensive cyber security environment • Previous experience working on a large scale data system that is geographically separated with constraints such as classifications and sensitivities around sharing data across organisations Work Location MOD Corsham / Working from home. Working Arrangments 5 days per week, either from MOD Corsham or working from home (to be agreed with Authority). Security Clearance DV, although initially SC (must be held to start role) would be acceptable with the aim to acquire DV once onboarded. Sole UK nationality is required for this role.
