WSCC - Oral Health Promotion Service

Description

Oral Health Promotion Service requirement within West Sussex for a maximum duration of 5 years (3+1+1). Lot 1: Under 'The Local Authorities (Public Health Functions and Entry to Premises by Local Healthwatch Representative) Regulations 2013', local authorities (LAs) are responsible for public health services for residents in their area. Alongside this, there is a statutory requirement to commission or provide oral health promotion services to improve the health of the local population to an extent that they consider appropriate in their areas (The NHS Bodies and Local Authorities (Partnership Arrangements, Care Trusts, Public Health and Local Healthwatch) Regulations 2012). To fulfil this responsibility, commissioners are seeking to procure an oral health promotion service with a specific focus on children and young people and, specifically, those key health inclusion groups at highest risk of poor oral health outcomes e.g. children living in the most deprived areas of the county, children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), children cared for by the LA.<br/><br/>The proposed service will deliver the following services:<br/>• Supervised toothbrushing across early years settings (in line with the national supervised toothbrushing programme)<br/>• Targeted oral health promotion interventions for children and families at highest risk of poor health outcomes<br/>• Oral health promotion training to frontline health and social care staff supporting a making every contact count approach<br/>• Wider system collaboration for improving overall health, oral health and links with dental services.
