Summary of the work Accessibility audit retest required for existing website. Newly developed areas of the website need to be tested to ensure it meets AA level WCAG 2.1 An actionable report will then be provided with ongoing support while this work is completed inhouse, or by our development agency. Expected Contract Length One year Latest start date Monday 3 October 2022 Why the Work is Being Done We have made substantive changes to our website following our last accessibility audit. We would like to check the new areas of the site to maintain our AA WCAG rating. Problem to Be Solved Our website needs to be accessible to all users. All user accessibility needs must be met. Who Are the Users As a member of the police or fire and rescue service I need to find out about performance so that it can be improved upon. As a member of the public, I need to access information about HMICFRS and their reports quickly and easily, so that I can understand the current performance of the local and national police forces, and Fire and Rescue Services in the UK. Work Already Done We have had an accessibility audit carried out on our site, and worked through any changes that needed to be made so that it passed AA WCAG standards. This report is available as reference. Existing Team The digital team at HMICFRS oversee this project, we manage the website and intranet for HMICFRS. You may need to work with our development company, Bang Communications, for technical issues. The digital communications manger will be the main point of contact for the the third party consultancy, the head of digital will provide escalation if necessary. Current Phase Live Skills & Experience • Have experience running accessibility audits on a live web site • Have experience producing an actionable report for any accessibility updates needed for a live website • Have a thorough understanding of WCAG guidelines and how to apply them • Provide evidence and experience over a two year period of testing websites for WCAG compliance • Provide evidence and experience over a two year period of assessing webpages for usability and assistive technology Nice to Haves Has experience running an accessibility audit for a government website Work Location This work can be completed remotely Working Arrangments As a remote team we will meet regularly via Teams to discuss your progress. Security Clearance This is for a public facing website, accessed externally for this work. The contractual agreement will cover this in more detail. Can you advise as to the budget range for this project?Can you please let us know your budget rangePlease can you provide a budget? The project will be to test roughly 10 pages. We have a budget of up to £5000, this will include the page testing, and the further support throughout the year. Stating the amount you charge per page, or day rate if applicable, would be helpful in your proposals. 3. With regards providing evidence and experience over a two year period of testing websites for WCAG compliance – does this refer to working with a single website across a 2 year period, or does the supplier need to demonstrate having delivered this service more broadly, across multiple websites? Working with one website over a period of two years is sufficient. 4. Please could you let me know if the 10 pages you anticipate will require testing are mostly information pages with little functionality?Thank you. Some have more functionality than others.
