Description
The overarching goal of the project is to define, validate and apply a standardised workflow (experimental and computational) for deriving reliable human reference points and health-based guidance values (HBGVs) using cutting edge in-vitro approaches, namely Organ-on-chip (OoC) platforms and multiple OMICs endpoints (transcriptomics, metabolomics, and epigenomics). The newly generated data will be used to develop and train a bioinformatics pipeline suitable to predict mechanistic information such as mode of action (MoA), adverse outcome pathways (AOP), key biomarkers, in-vivo reference points (using IVIVE-PBK modelling) and health-based guidance values (HBGV). In phase two, the experimental and bioinformatics workflow, defined and tested in phase one, will be used to predict the aforementioned reference points and mechanistic information for a new set of emerging hazardous substances or substances with positive health claims related to food and feed.
