The STFC at Daresbury Laboratory is building over 130 accelerator modules for a new accelerator being built in Sweden called the European Spallation Source (ESS). The ESS is part funded by a number of EU countries and as a result the UK has committed £165 million pounds to the project. As part of that £165 million pound STFC Daresbury is building a significant proportion of the accelerator modules that will form the final accelerator.
