Description
The proposed A536 Congleton Link Road is a 5,7 km long, 9,3 m wide single carriageway road running tothe north of Congleton between the A534 Sandbach Road in the west and the A536 Macclesfield Road in the northeast. The mainline has 5 x 50 m and one 60 m diameter radii roundabouts including junctions with the A54and A34. The link road passes beneath Chelford Road in an area subject to a high water table. The road willbe cut approximately 8 m deep into mudstone in a 25 m high escarpment before crossing the River Dane onan 85 m long bridge and landing on a 12 m high embankment founded on piled alluvium. There are two otherroad bridge crossings and 2 underpasses. The scheme also has approximately 3,5 km of realigned or newlocal roads and significant amounts of landscaping and environmental mitigation works to accommodate GreatCrested Newts, Bats and Ancient Woodland.
