Description
The Royal Ulster Constabulary George Cross Foundation (RUC GCF) was created by virtue of Section 70 of the Police (NI) Act 2000 for the purpose of “marking the sacrifices and honouring the achievements of the Royal Ulster Constabulary”. It commenced work in December 2001. The RUC GC Foundation has responsibility for the upkeep and management of the RUC GC Memorial Garden which is situated at the Headquarters of the Police Service of Northern Ireland at ‘Brooklyn’, 65 Knock Road, Belfast. BT5 6LE. The Memorial Garden provides a major tribute to Policing in Ireland. It, in particular, marks the service and sacrifice of RUC Officers and offers a unique three-dimensional experience unparalleled anywhere in the world. The RUC GC Foundation has enjoyed a high reputation for the quality of its Memorial Garden. The current Contract for the maintenance of the Memorial Garden is due to expire and the RUC GC Foundation now wishes to competitively let a new Contract for the Grounds Maintenance.
