Supply of Milk and Associated Supplies

Description

The Council requires a supplier for the supply and delivery of Milk and Associated Supplies across all school establishments and care homes which will include a range of dairy products, including whole milk, semi-skimmed milk, skimmed milk and various other products. This requirement covers 32 primary schools, 5 secondary schools, 3 specialist schools and 2 care homes which will include multi-site delivery, timeously routine and have the ability to meet dietary requirements and support the provision of nutrition for nurseries, primary and secondary schools as well as care homes. Education, Learning and Attainment (ELA), FM Services and HSCP are committed to the promotion of health and well-being for their pupils / clients. School Food is governed by Scottish Government legislation – To halve childhood obesity by 2030 and strengthen children and young people’s healthy eating habits. School food regulations will be amended to ensure: - a minimum of two full portions of vegetables and a full portion of fruit are offered as part of a school lunch and a serving of milk or a non-dairy alternative Residential and Day Care is governed by guidance from The Scottish Government “Health and Scottish Care Standards 2017”, and Care Inspectorate “Eating and Drinking well in Care – good practice guidance for older people”. The requirement must ensure all products are delivered on time when required in order to provide fresh products on a daily basis and be flexible with quantities due to school closures, public holidays and special events.
