The Histocompatibility and Immunology (H&I) department in SNBTS requires a contract for Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Typing. Lot 2: HLA Sequencing Equipment maintenance & consumables The Histocompatibility and Immunology (H&I) department in Scottish National Blood Transfusion Services (SNBTS) requires a contract for Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Typing, performed using next generation sequencing (NGS) equipment. HLA sequencing is a method used to determine the specific variations (alleles) of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes, which are crucial for immune system function and play a significant role in various diseases and transplant compatibility. HLA typing by next generation sequencing is performed routinely in SNBTS for all potential renal, islet and pancreas transplant recipients and donors listed for transplant on the east coast of Scotland. The test is also performed as part of disease association and pharmacogenomic HLA testing to aid clinical decision making. SNBTS are named beneficiaries on an NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) framework. The contract is a call-off from this framework for equipment maintenance and consumables.
