Description
Is a statutory requirement for local planning authorities from time to time to review their conservation areas; this will need to refer back to the appraisal and the management plan, particularly where the review suggests that designation might be needed for areas along the borders of a conservation area which would benefit from designation. The process is therefore one which needs some measure of continuing re-appraisal though the need will be proportionate to development pressures inside and outside the conservation area. Birkenhead Park Conservation Area appraisal was adopted in 2007. Historic England recommends reviewing the appraisals every 5 years. As Birkenhead Park is currently in the tentative list for being a World Heritage Site its of extreme importance to have an updated appraisal and a new management plan for the conservation area. Wirral Council is looking for an accredited conservation consultant to undertake Birkenhead’s Park Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan.
